Pflugerville Named One Of Best Places To Live In Texas

Chamber of Commerce, an online resource for small business owners, ranked city fifth in its 'best places' list.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Apparently, many pfolks are pfond of Pflugerville. Chamber of Commerce, a digital resource for small business owners, has named the city among the best places to live in Texas.

The online resource ranked the top 100 best in which to live, assessing cities with populations above 25,000 as part of the reckoning. . Five factors were considered in the mix to determine the rankings, including education (percentage with a bachelor's degree or higher); employment (number of establishments, health (namely obesity ratios); median earnings); housing (owner-occupied housing with a mortgage, monthly housing costs); and quality of life (work commute, poverty levels). Only cities with a population above 25,000 and enough data for analysis were considered.

Given that metrics mix, the city — described by researchers as "...quirkily named Pflugerville, a wealthy, fast-growing suburb of state capital Austin — was ranked fifth. Rounding out the top five, in descending order, were: Flower Mound, Houston, Richardson and Frisco.

To be sure, Pflugerville has its share of charms, what with festivals (um, pfestivals) staged annually to honor its German roots. Lower housing costs than in the capital city also have made Pflugerville a popular destination to those priced out of Austin. The city's profile has been raised via the television show "Friday Night Lights" that partly filmed on location at the city.
