Pflugerville Officials Celebrate City's Strong Showing In 'Best Cities' List

Money magazine ranked the city as the 12th best among municipalities of its size, with its centralized location and small-town feel cited.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- City officials are touting their strong showing in a national survey where Pflugerville emerged as the 12th best city in America among municipalities of its size.

Money Magazine gave the city the ranking after assessing cities throughout the country with populations between 50,000 and 300,000.

“Pflugerville has leapt to #12 in the Money Magazine list of best places to live, Mayor Jeff Coleman said in a prepared statement. "Our jump up in the rankings is no surprise to anyone living in Pflugerville because we know this is a great place to live."

Among the favorable dynamics are the city's centralized location in the fast-growing Austin corridor yet its retention of a small-town feel with all its attendant charms, Coleman said.

"When you combine our central Texas location with city festivals that contribute to small-town feel and carefully managed growth, you get a wonderful place to raise a family," the mayor said. "I am extremely proud that Pflugerville is once again in the national spotlight and named one of the best places to live in the U.S.”

The magazine ticked off some of the attributes that propelled the city high on its list. Among the most notable qualities cited were Pflugerville's connectivity, housing, financial state and quality of life compared to other cities nationwide, officials noted.

All told, Money Magazine analyzed 60 key factors including taxes, education and health care.

Pflugerville’s embrace of its German heritage through various ‘Pfests,’ a 45-mile trail system and connectivity along SH 130 to Austin were highlighted in Money Magazine’s ranking which emphasizes Pflugerville’s planned growth, city officials wtote.

In the reckoning were some 60 factors, including average home prices, temperature, schools and crime rates. Next Money Magazine weighted places that score well with job market, economic opportunity and housing affordability.

"Factor in a great economy, health care, a great trail system and happiness, and you get Pflugerville, Texas!" city officials said in palpable celebration.
