“From sports complex, to the new park, to community park and sports complex, the current land hasa lot of nicknames,” Parks and Recreation Director James Hemenes said in a statement. “We’d like to hear ideas from the public on what they’d like to name this park.”

While they’re at it, city officials ask for a little help in naming two other parks in the Highland Pak and Stone Hills subdivisions that are also nameless.

The upshot: It’s time to “Name Your Parks,” as city officials have titled the park-naming initiative.

City officials have a penchant for utilizing wordplay with some civic-related events (its annual “Deutschen Pfest” replete with “pfamily pfun” with attendant “Pfestival” or reference to shelter animals as “pfurry,” for instance).

While park names generally honor a civic leader of founder, the rules seem to indicate city officials are open to all suggestions.

So have phun and go phor it!
