Pflugerville Parks & Rec Commission Seeks High School Representative

The selected student will be a voting member of the commission for a one-year term.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- City officials are seeking submissions for a high school representative to sit on its Parks and Recreation Commission -- no internship, this, but an actual voting member of the group.

The selected student will be a voting member of the commission during a one-year term beginning June 2016 and ending May 31, 2017. Candidates must live within city limits for at least 12 months prior to their appointment, and cannot be employees of the city.

A required official application is available on the City’s web site at http://www.pflugervilletx.gov, through the City Secretary’s Office by calling (512) 990-6101 or emailing citysecretary@pflugervilletx.gov. The deadline to submit applications isJune 3, 2016. Interviews and appointment is expected to take place at the City Council meeting on June 14, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., 100 E. Main St., Suite 500.

The main work of the Parks and Recreation Commission centers on annual submission of a five-year comprehensive park plan; makes recommendations regarding the management, maintenance, use and improvement of all parks and public recreational facilities owned or controlled by the city; makes recommendations concerning acquiring real property and concerning donations, legacies, and bequests; makes recommendations regarding recreational programs and events.
The commission has six members serving two-year terms, and one high school student member and one alternate member serving one-year terms.

Meetings are staged on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Pflugerville Recreation Center, 400 Immanuel Rd.
