Pflugerville PD Gets $1K Grant For K-9 Program
Aftermath Services, a biohazard remediation firm, staged an online contest yielding the local force in fifth place for nationwide voting.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — The Pflugerville Police Department has been awarded a $1,000 grant to bolster its K-9 unit following an online voting contest.
Officials at the force are scheduled to accept the windfall on Monday, Dec. 18, in the Emergency Operations Center at the Pflugerville Justice Center, 1611 E. Pfennig Lane. The award is being given by Aftermath Services.
Officials said the department placed fifth nationwide among more than 3,300 departments in an online voting contest for the funding, with more than 330,000 votes cast during the competition. Community members and officers were asked to nominate their local police departments and cast their votes daily in the online contest.

Aftermath Services, a nationwide biohazard remediation company, awarded a total of $15,000 in grants to the top five departments and their existing or prospective K-9 programs for maintenance, safety equipment, or officer training, officials explained. Pflugerville was the only department in Texas to place in the top five, it was noted.
Pflugerville PD has three narcotics detection K-9s, and plans to use the funding to assist with purchasing an upgraded heat alert and deployment system that will protect K-9s from heat exhaustion and allow them to easily deploy from the officer’s vehicle.
