Pflugerville Pet Owners Warned After Two Neighborhood Dogs Poisoned

Pair of poisoning incidents occurred in the Creekside neighborhood, leading to death of one dog, according to police.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Police on Wednesday urged animal owners to be extra vigilant of their pets after two reported incidents of dogs being poisoned, including one who later died.

The poisoning incidents occurred in the Creekside neighborhood, according to police. As a result, Pflugerville Police Chief Jessica Robledo and Police Commander Jason Smith met with the Creekside Homeowner Association on Tuesday during the group's regular meeting to discuss the incidents and provide tips to prevent similar poisonings.

Homeowners in the area have discovered their dogs consuming foreign objects in their backyards that were not provided by the owner. The police department and Pflugerville Animal Welfare Services are jointly investigating the incidents after one dog died after ingesting foreign matter, police said.

Officials encourage pet owners to take precautions, chiefly for homeowners to check their yards for any foreign objects and to save foreign matter to later determine why an animal might be suffering distress. Pet owners also are urged to contact their veterinarian if their dogs consume foreign matter.

The police chief urges homeowners to be aware of their surroundings, including suspicious vehicles and people lurking in the neighborhood. Information should be reported to police by calling (512) 670-5700 with detailed information related to suspicious activity or via email at cidtips@pflugervilletx.gov.
