Pflugerville 'PF 101' To Teach Residents How Government Works

Program aims to educate people about operations, cultivate future leaders, yielding primer for those keen on serving on boards, commissions.

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — The City of Pflugerville is accepting applications for the 2019 PF 101, a citizens academy used by the city to teach residents about day-to-day functions and roles of local government, officials said Monday.

The purpose of PF 101 is to educate residents about operations, cultivate future leaders and showcase talents of municipal staff, officials said in an advisory. The program also serves as an ideal prerequisite for serving on a city board or commission, officials noted.

PF 101 will consist of eight informational sessions from January through March in 2019, with featured presentations by multiple representatives from city departments. Sessions will be held weekly on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at various city facilities.

But capacity is limited: The first 20 Pflugerville residents who are registered voters that apply will be accepted into the program, and participation is free. At the end of the eight-week program, a graduation ceremony for participants will be staged on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at a city council meeting.
