Pflugerville Pfall Chili Pfest Around The Corner

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Pardner, how long has it been since you had some Pflugerville Pfall Pfest Chili? Well, that's too long.

To remedy that, the celebration of this Texas comfort food is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 19, from noon - 5 p.m. in downtown Pflugerville. The popular event includes a chili tasting and cook-off, kid’s area, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, classic cars, live music, jalapeño eating contest and — new this year for ages 6-17 — a pickle-eating contest.

In short, there will be something for everyone at the Pflugerville Pfall Chili Pfest.

Schedule of events

• Noon to 2:30 p.m.: Live music from Blind Innocence.
• Noon to 3 p.m.: Chili tasting and voting.
• Noon to 5 p.m.: Kid’s area, Chili Pfest Car Club (hosted by Sweet Rides of Central Texas) and shopping.
• 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Jalapeño eating contest (ages 18+)

· 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Pickle eating contest (ages 6-17)

· 4:30 p.m.: Cook-off contest awards

Admission is free, along with all the activities in the kid’s area. Purchase tasting cups and tickets to vote in the cook-off at Pflugerville Downtown Association booths, $5 for 10 two-oz. cups and spoons (cash only).

This year, 30 cook teams will compete for the best chili in Pflugerville and 42 vendors will sell food, drinks and arts and crafts. New this year, the Chili Pfest Car Club is moving to the parking lot of 103 N Railroad Ave (previously located at 3rd St. and Main St.).

Hosted by Sweet Rides of Central Texas, classic cars will be displayed to be voted on by attendees for crowd favorites. Also new in 2019 is the pickle eating contest for kids ages 6-17. Hosted on the main stage immediately after the jalapeño eating contest, it is sure to be the start of a pfun new tradition, officials said.

Event organizers remind those planning to attend that parking is limited in downtown Pflugerville. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy free parking and free shuttles available from the Pflugerville ISD Administration Building, 1401 W. Pecan St., from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
