“It is an honor to recognize our Pflugerville Police Department for their valor and commitment to the Pflugerville community,” Victor Johnson of the Pflugerville Downtown Association said. “The Pflugerville Downtown Association is proud to present $5,000 to launch a benevolence fund to support our police force. These men and women work every day, rain or shine, to ensure our community is peaceful, safe, and secure, while treating every person with respect and dignity. It is our pleasure to name the Police Department this year's Pflugerville Legend."

The newly established Pflugerville Police Benevolence Fund plans to ensure that police officers know their families and loved ones will be taken care in times of greatest need, Johnson said, even with the silent wish that the fund doesn't have to be used: "We pray that we will never have to use the fund and our officers will remain as safe as they have made our community.”
