Pflugerville Police Monitoring 'Creepy Clown' Threats Made To Schools

Local law enforcement officials acknowledge threats have been made, but none rise to the level of validity.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- In a notice to residents on Wednesday, police said that although a high volume of calls have been received regarding creepy clowns, no credible threats to schools have been made.

The creepy clown trend has swept the nation, involving people either making menacing threats to schools or walking around frightening people. A handful of cases have been assaults by people dressed as clowns, but they are largely an aberration.

"Currently we have been receiving a large volume of inquiries regarding the 'creepy clown' fad," Pflugerville police wrote in a social media post. "The Pflugerville Police Department and the Pflugerville ISD police have been monitoring the “creepy clown” phenomenon which has gone viral via social media. Currently we are investigating every threat made towards PfISD schools."

They assured none has been deemed credible: "At this time, we have found no validity to the threats. However, while we have no reason to believe there is any credible threat to the safety of PfISD students or staff members, we are investigating any and all threats reported to us. Whether they are made against an individual or an entire school, such threats are a serious matter."
