Pflugerville Selling Rain Barrels To The Environmentally Conscious

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — The city of Pflugerville is selling rain barrels.

Two models of rain barrels are available for sale: A Springsaver 50-gallon version for $64.99 and a Rainsaver 54-gallon model for $84.99. You can order online at www.pflugervilletx.gov/rainbarrels. They come in a variety of colors to better match your home and landscape, city officials said.

Barrels must be picked up on Friday, May 12 between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Public Works Department Wastewater Plant, 15500 Sun Light Near Way Suite B. The last day to purchase is Sunday, April 30, 2017.“

"In conjunction with the city’s water conservation initiatives, the barrels provide an environmental collection of water for residents,” water conservation manager Darrell Winslett said. “The barrels are cost-effective as they provide an opportunity to reuse rainwater for lawns and gardens instead of pulling the water from the city’s water supply.”

Since rain barrel pick-up coincides with the Public Works Department annual open house, purchasers are encouraged to tour the Public Works facility when picking up their rain barrel on Friday, May 12.
