Pflugerville Splash Pad Now In Place Can Only Mean One Thing....

City is preparing to open all its pools Memorial Day weekend with a free day at Gilleland Pool on May 21.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Sometimes, it's the simple pleasures of life that make one feel alive: Feeding the birds at the park, taking a long walk on a crisp autumn day, getting splashed by water by a machine that emits a 30-second spray just because.

Yes, the last thing is a thing. And it's now open at Splash Park at 1813 Tranquility Lane in Falcon Pointe.

City officials announced the installation of the so-called splash pad, which became operational May 1.

"The water is triggered by pressing a large button which provides about 30 seconds of play fun," city officials explained on their website. "Children should play with an adult present as there is no lifeguard on duty at the splash park," they add, in a note of caution and, one might say, stream of consciousness.

The pad is in place ahead of the opening of all city pools coming this Memorial Day weekend. It gets better: A special "splash day" is scheduled May 21 at Gilleland Pool (which this year is timed with Deutschen Pfest) and guests will be able to use the pool for free.
