Pflugerville Tap Water Smells, Tastes like Chlorine
The city says the water is still safe to drink despite the odd odor and taste.

Sometimes there’s nothing more refreshing than a cold glass of water from the tap.
Unless it smells, and tastes, like a swimming pool.
After detecting a high level of chlorine last night, Pflugerville’s automated water system sprang into action. But it couldn’t act quickly enough to prevent some city residents from smelling, and tasting chlorine in their tap water.

“The chlorine generator board went out,” the city said on its website. “The city switched disinfectants to bleach and the resulting odor is a result of the balancing of disinfectant levels.”
City crews have been flushing water lines across the city since last night and will continue during the day Monday to fix the problem, according to the city. The city says the water is safe to drink, and has been throughout the process of flushing the water lines.
