Pflugerville Taps New Assistant City Manager

Currently serving as deputy director of management services in Texas City, Texas, James Hartshorn begins new role in June.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Council members tapped James Hartshorn as assistant city manager for the City of Pflugerville at their Tuesday meeting.

The action came during he May 28 city countil meeting. Hartshorn has served as deputy director of management services in Texas City, Texas, since 2014. In that role, he oversees the Economic Development Corp., city secretary's office, communications department and municipal court, officials said. Before that, he worked for the State Comptroller of Public Accounts, where he contributed to various statewide publications as a researcher, data analyst, writer and editor.

Hartshorn earned a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Brigham Young University – Idaho and a Master’s of Public Administration from Texas A&M University.

As an assistant city manager for Pflugerville, Hartshorn will oversee the operations of Communications, Municipal Court, Information Technology, Human Resources and Parks and Recreation. He will begin his new role at Pflugerville in June.
