Informational Meeting On Weiss Lane Widening Project Set For This Week In Pflugerville

The bond-funded, voter-approved project will widen the artery from Wilbarger Creek to Cele Road from two lanes to four.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- City and county officials will host an open house-style gathering this Wednesday (Oct. 26) to provide information related to the highly anticipated Weiss Lane Roadway Improvements project slated to begin next year.

The project to widen the artery is funded by voter-approved bond funds and involves the widening the roadway from Wilbarger Creek to Cele Road from two lanes to four with curb, gutter and drainage improvements included. Additionally, the southernmost section from Wilbarger Creek to East Pecan Street will be reconstructed as a two-lane roadway with shoulders, officials said.

The project encompasses a three-mile stretch from East Pecan Street to Cele Road and includes reconstruction of all bridges from Pecan Street to Cele Road, starting with the one-lane bridge closest to Pecan Street, city officials said.

The roadway will remain open with a north and southbound lane of traffic during construction, officials noted. The project is expected to begin in early 2017 and will take 20 months to complete, officials have previously stated.

Voters in November 2015 approved $9.5 million in bond funds—in addition to the $3.77 million from a 2014 bond package—for the Weiss Lane work.
