Pflugerville Water Utility Work To Shut Street, Create Outages

Slated for February, pressure reducing valves installation will prompt closure of Swenson Farms Boulevard and hours-long water outages.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A water utility improvement project along Swenson Farms Boulevard is slated to begin in February, officials said.

The project is designed to install pressure reducing valves (PRV) for the neighborhood, city officials explained on a municipal portal. To that end, two such valves will be installed on Swenson Farms Boulevard on either end of the neighborhood — one just south of Black Locust Dr. and another north of Pfennig Lane.

The work will provide protection against water pressure surges that may occur while the nearby elevated storage tank is undergoing maintenance, officials noted.

During construction, officials said, one side of Swenson Farms Boulevard will be closed in the immediate vicinity for several days while valve vaults are installed in the street. Temporary water outages may occur for no more than four hours at a time and all effort will be made to provide ample notice prior to any outage, officials assured.

City staff asks motorists to proceed with caution through the construction zone and observe temporary construction signage. A detailed illustration of the affected areas is provided. Any questions should be directed to CIP Engineering at (512) 990-6409 or by sending an email to projects@pflugervilletx.gov.
