Pflugerville Woman Charged After Leaving Son With Man She Met At AA Meeting
Jeanette Briggs, 47, is said to have left her six-year-old with fellow Alcoholics Anonymous member for several hours, police said.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — A Pflugerville woman was arrested after leaving her young son with a man she had recently met at an Alcoholic Anonymous meeting, according to a published report.
Jeanette Briggs, 47, was charged with abandoning or endangering a child as a result of the incident. Pflugerville police received reports last Friday of a child left an an address along Old Hutto Road, according to a report in the Austin American-Statesman. Another call was made to police minutes later from a house originating less than a mile from the one where the child was dropped off. In the second call from the 1500 block of Boysenberry Lane, Briggs allegedly kicked the caller twice, according to the published report.
Briggs is said to have later acknowledged to police that she had been drinking earlier in the afternoon before driving to her AA meeting with the child in tow, according to an affidavit. She then asked a fellow AA member to watch the child so she could go the store after the AA meeting ended at around 6 p.m.

The woman told the makeshift baby sitter she'd return in less than 30 minutes, but was gone for several hours, according to the report. The woman initially told police she had left the boy with his father, but later said she didn't think her actions in leaving the boy with the fellow AA member was irresponsible, the affidavit details.
In a subsequent search of Brigg's property, two four-packs of mini-wine bottles were found, with four of the bottles empty, according to the affidavit. Also, the woman exhibited poor balance and slurred speech, the affidavit continues.

Briggs was booked into the Travis County Jail on Sunday evening with a bail set at $6,000.
