Plastics Company to Move to Pflugerville, Create 100 Jobs

One hundred new jobs are coming to Pflugerville.

On Tuesday the Pflugerville City Council approved a deal created by the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation and Medway Plastics — currently based in Long Beach, California — that would see the establishment of a research, development and southwest manufacturing facility within the city limits of Pflugerville.

The resolution passed by the city council will require Medway to maintain the new facility in Pflugerville for at least five years and hire at least 20 full-time employees at all times. That shouldn’t be a problem, as the company is committed to creating 100 jobs over the next five years, reported the Austin Business Journal.

In addition to the requirements imposed by the council, Medway will also receive incentives from the deal including a $50,000 relocation grant and up to $100,000 in job creation incentives.

The city council will also help Medway in the hiring process by helping with two job fairs on Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, to be held at Pflugerville Community Development Corporation offices.

“Pflugerville’s workforce has the education, skills and experience Medway Plastics needs to fill top-notch manufacturing, research and development jobs, and to help the company successfully enter into new markets,” said PCDC Interim Executive Director Amy Madison in a statement.

Medway already has a location in mind for their facility as well. It has leased 51,000 square feet at 1600 Royston, reported the Austin Business Journal.

“It is clear that Pflugerville is a forward-looking, business-friendly city. Medway Plastics can now tap into new markets in Texas and the U.S.,” said Medway Plastics Corp. President Tom Hutchinson Jr., in the announcement, as reported by the Austin Business Journal.

The company’s headquarters will remain in California for now but the company said it is considering a move to Pflugerville down the road.
