Police Believe Robbery Could Be Linked To Unsolved Sexual Assaults

Law enforcement officials don't disclose why they think the incident are linked, but confirm the possible tie.

AUSTIN, TX -- Police say they believe an aggravated robbery that occurred over the weekend could be tied to a string of sexual assaults in the region.

The robbery was reported Jan. 7 at an apartment complex in the 11600 block of Jollyville Road at 3:30 p.m. Police tell the Austin American-Statesman that there might be a connection to the yet-unsolved series of sexual attacks plaguing that part of town by an unknown assailant.

“There were no indicators of sexual assault or rape,” Austin Police Department spokeswoman Anna Sabana told the newspaper. “However, we do believe, but can’t confirm, that it is related to the other incidents.”
