Police Disclose Further Details On Deadly North Austin Weekend Crash
The unidentified man who died at the scene was believed to have been speeding before hitting a tree and dying on impact.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police on Monday released more details on Monday related to a deadly Sunday night car wreck.
The crash occurred just after midnight on Sunday in the 7500 block of Cameron Road, police said. According to a preliminary investigation, a green 2000 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Cameron Road and failed to negotiate a right curve on the road. Subsequently, the car was driven into the center median before striking a tree.
The unidentified victim, a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said excessive speed was likely a contributing factor that led to the crash.

Police have not identified the victim pending notification of his family members. Police noted the deadly crash represented Austin’s 53rd fatal traffic crash and the 54th fatality of 2016. At this time in 2015, there were 81 traffic fatalities in Austin.
