Police ID Driver Who Died In 3-Car North Austin Wreck
Michael Cannatti, 70, was driving his Cadillac XTS westbound along Balcones Woods Drive before bring hit by an Isuzu and dying later.
AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Monday identified the motorist who died in a three-vehicle traffic collision that happened in North Austin last week.
The wreck occurred on Wednesday, April 17, just before 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Jollyville Road and Balcones Woods Drive. That's where a white, 2018 Isuzu conventional truck was traveling northbound along the 1100 block of Jollyville Road, approaching the intersection of Balcones Woods Drive.
Meanwhile, a white, 2015 Cadillac XTS was traveling westbound on Balcones Woods Drive. Police said the Isuzu driver failed to control speed and entered the intersection, striking the Cadillac on the driver's side. The impact caused the Isuzu to continue across the intersection before striking the front of a gray, 2013 Mazda sedan facing south on Jollyville Road.

The driver of the Cadillac, Michael Cannatti, 70, was transported to St. David's Round Rock Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries. In their press advisory, police did not indicate if the Isuzu driver faced any charge as a result of the wreck.

The incident marked Austin’s 19th fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 20 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, police added, there were 19 fatal traffic crashes and 20 traffic fatalities.
