Police ID Motorcyclist Killed This Week Along MoPac In North Austin

Alexander Davsley, 29, was killed after a Jeep hit him while attempting to switch lanes.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police on Thursday identified the motorcyclist killed in a North Austin crash this past Tuesday.

A preliminary police investigation revealed the crash that happened at 8:30 p.m. started with the motorcyclist traveling north in the 10800 block of North MoPac. At the time, the driver on the black Ducati was traveling in the outside lane near a silver Jeep Renegade.

As the driver of the Jeep tried moving onto the center lane, it struck the rear of the motorcycle.

Alexander Davsley, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Law enforcement officials didn't specify in their news advisory whether the driver of the Jeep faces any charges. The advisory also didn't specify whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.

Police noted the deadly motorcycle wreck was the 46th traffic fatality of 2016 in Austin. At the same point last year, there were 76 traffic fatalities locally.
