Police ID Pedestrian Killed By Car In North Austin
Mauricio Garcia, 58, was in the middle of the inside lane on Cameron Road last week when a truck collided with him, police said.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified the pedestrian killed after being struck by a car in North Austin last week.
The incident occurred along the 7200 block of Cameron Road on Thursday, Oct. 3, just before 10 p.m. Police said Mauricio Garcia, 58, was in the middle of the inside lane of the roadway when a white, 2012 Ford F-150 truck was headed northbound in the inside lane before striking him.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Officials didn't detail whether the driver remained at the scene awaiting the arrival of police or whether any charges would be filed.

The incident marked the city's 64th fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 66 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, officials added, there were 53 fatal traffic crashes and 54 traffic fatalities.
