Police ID Pedestrian Killed In North Austin

Michael James Trujillo, 34, was killed along 800 block of East Braker Lane at around 11 p.m. when he was struck by a car.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police have identified the pedestrian killed two weeks ago in North Austin.

Michael James Trujillo, 34, was crossing the street along the 800 block of East Braker Lane with a companion just before 11 p.m. on July 17 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound in the left lane, police said. Trujillo and his companion were were crossing mid-block where there was no intersection or crosswalk, according to police.

Trujillo was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center by Austin-Travis County EMS medics, but he died shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to police. Police didn't indicate whether the driver faced any charges.

The incident marked Austin’s 33rd fatal traffic crash and the 35th fatality of 2017. At this time in 2016, there were 38 fatal traffic crashes and 38 traffic fatalities, police said.
