Police ID Pedestrian Killed In North Austin; Suspect At Large
Driver fled after hitting two pedestrians along 8100 block of North Lamar Boulevard, leaving one injured and the other dead at the scene.
NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Tuesday released details related to a traffic collision last week involving two pedestrians, one of whom was killed.
The incident occurred on Thursday, Feb. 21, at around 8:30 p.m along the 8100 block of North Lamar Boulevard. Two pedestrians were crossing mid-block along the roadway when they were struck by a vehicle. One of the victims sustained minor injuries and another was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian who died was identified as Blair Dismukes, a woman who was 37 years old.
The driver who hit them fled the scene, and the vehicle has yet to be identified. Police continue to investigate the case, and ask anyone with information to contact detectives at (512) 974-5594. The incident marked Austin’s eighth fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in eight fatalities this year, police said. At this time in 2018, there were nine fatal traffic crashes and ten traffic fatalities, law enforcement officials added.
