Police ID Pedestrian Killed In Northeast Austin In Late November

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday released the name of the pedestrian who was killed after being hit by a car in the central east portion of the city late last month.
Leslie Thomas, 69, was killed after being hit by a pickup truck just before 6 p.m. on Nov. 29, according to a police account. He was crossing mid-block along the 3300 block of Manor Road, an area not authorized or safe for pedestrians to cross a roadway, police said.
The driver of a black 2010 Ford Ranger was traveling eastbound along Manor Road, merging onto the turn lane to go onto Anchor Lane, and wasn't able to see the pedestrian in time to avoid hitting him, police said. Thomas was rushed to University Medical Center Brackenridge, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The death represented Austin’s 70th fatal traffic crash and the 72nd fatality of 2016. At this time in 2015, there were 91 traffic fatalities in Austin, police said.
