Police ID Suspect, Shooting In North Austin Drug Deal Shooting
As residents headed to polls on Election Day, Tony Huggins, 25, lay dying after allegedly being shot by Isaac Thomas, 23, after drug deal.

NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Thursday identified the suspect and victim of a fatal shooting in North Austin this week resulting from a drug deal that prompted the lock-down of a nearby school.
As an untold number of residents headed to the polls on Election Day this past Tuesday, a drug deal was taking place in a store parking lot at 1030 Norwood Park Blvd., according to information provided by police. There, Tony Lamar Huggins, 25, was on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite medics' efforts to save him, he was soon pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 12:30 p.m..
Police later arrested Isaac Thomas, 23, on an unrelated charge in Bastrop County, and charged him with capital murder, according to a press advisory. He remains behind bars at the Bastrop County Jail, officials added.

The shooting prompted officials at nearby Hart Elementary School to place the site on lock-down mode as a safety precaution. No other injuries were reported.

After establishing a crime scene around the site, police interviews with witnesses revealed that a drug deal had taken place at the site prior to the shooting, police said. At the time of the incident, police wouldn't confirm if the victim suffered a gunshot or stab wound, but confirmed the nature of Huggins' injuries by Thursday.
