Police ID Victim Of Traffic Fatality That Occurred After Car Hydroplaned In North Austin
Ricardo Velazquez, 38, struck a utility pole after apparently losing control of the pickup truck he was driving.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police on Thursday identified the victim of a car accident that occurred when his vehicle hydroplaned and crashed into a utility pole last week.
Ricardo Velazuez, 38, died Aug. 19 when the pickup truck he was driving northbound along the 3300 block of South Interstate 35 northbound service road likely hydroplaned, Austin Police Department officials said. The driver lost control and rolled into the pole, they added.
Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-5576. Information also can be submitted via the APD's mobile app, Austin PD, which can be downloaded free of charge on iPhone and Android.

Policde noted the death represents Austin’s 42nd fatal traffic crash and the 42nd fatality of 2016. At this time in 2015 there were 65 traffic fatalities in Austin, police added.
