Police Investigate Suspicious Death In North Austin

A call of shots fired led police to the 12900 block of Quinn Trail where they found an assault victim dead at the scene.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police were called to a North Austin neighborhood early Thursday after a report of shots fired, finding a dead man at the scene by the time they arrived.

A police officer briefed the media after the incident at around 4:3o a.m., saying detectives were called to the 12900 block of Quinn Trail at about 1:30 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a black male believed to have been 20 years old who had been the victim of assault.

The man was transported to the hospital, but was pronounced dead.

Investigators continue to investigate the incident, but didn't disclose if there was a suspect. The officer acting as spokesman also didn't reveal if the victim was found indoors or outside.

The police officer briefing the media noted that the incident appeared to be isolated, meaning the public at large was not in danger.
