Police Search For Bank Robbery Suspect

A dye pack inserted in a money pouch was activated, but the suspect still got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- Police continue searching for a suspect in a bank robbery Friday morning on the city’s northeast side.

Police say a man presented a note to a bank teller demanding money shortly after 10 a.m.. The teller at the Comerica Bank at 2315 E. Anderson Lane handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, but also inserted a dye pack in the bag that apparently was later activated.

One of the suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s to early 30s, police spokeswoman Angel Polansky said in a subsequent press conference. The suspect has facial hair and was last seen wearing a black jacket over a red button-up shirt and white T-shirt underneath.

Police have released a still image of the suspect taken from surveillance footage in the hopes someone might identify him.

No injuries were reported during the morning heist, and the suspect did not display a weapon.
