Police Seek North Austin Bank Robbery Suspect
Police released surveillance camera images of suspect in Oct. 9 Comerica Bank branch robbery in North Austin.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday released surveillance camera images showing the suspect in a bank robbery last week in North Austin.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 9, just before 4 p.m. at the Comerica Bank branch on 7820 Burnet Rd. Police said the suspect entered the bank before presenting a note to a teller demanding money. He then left the scene on foot, police said, noting that no injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as a heavyset black male standing at five feet, nine inches, in his mid 50s. He was last seen wearing a UT-Texas orange baseball cap, sunglasses and a short-sleeved blue T-shirt.

- The incident was one of two bank robberies that occurred on the same day within hours of each other. Four hours before the Comerica Bank branch was hit, a Compass Bank branch on 321 W. 6th St. was robbed. A police officer subsequently described the suspect in that incident as a Caucasian man standing at five feet, nine inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a light-colored jacket, dark-colored shorts, a hat and a surgical mask to hide his face, the officer said.
