Popular North Austin Italian Eatery Launches GoFundMe Patio Drive
One is expected to tip after a meal, but ASTI Trattoria patrons are nearing $15,000 goal for a patio at the popular Hyde Park eatery.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — When one frequents a restaurant, it's customary to leave a tip. In a new twist on an old classic, ASTI Trattoria restaurant officials in Hyde Park are asking customers for a patio.
A GoFundMe page has been created to raise money in order to build a patio at the popular eatery that's been serving up Italian fare for 17 years at the corner of Duval and 43rd streets. "For years, our awesome customers have been saying to us 'Hey, you should put a patio on the corner!' " the page reads.
Intrigued by the possibilities, restaurant officials checked with the city if they would be able to secure a permit, and received approval. "And YES! We can!" officials wrote, using all caps on the affirmative municipal response to more effectively convey their excitement.

So now, the planning process begins in earnest. "So the pressure is on to design and build a sweet corner patio inviting al fresco dining," restaurant officials wrote. "Funds will help with design and construction — seating and shade and lighting."
Officials predict this will be a great addition to ASTI in particular and the Hyde Park neighborhood in general. In other words, patio construction will be molto buono. At last check, the fundraising drive had collected $10,160 of a $15,000 goal.
