Portion Of Guadalupe Street Along UT-Austin To Close

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 9, right northbound lane, sidewalk from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to 20th Street closed until Jan. 24.

AUSTIN, TX — A portion of Guadalupe Street will be closed Tuesday for more than two weeks as part of a construction job related to a University of Texas-Austin building.

Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, crews will close the right northbound lane and sidewalk on Guadalupe Street from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to 20th Street to demolish the temporary sidewalk and install a permanent walkway.

The lane and sidewalk closure are related to construction of Robert B. Rowling Hall at UT-Austin, officials said. The lane and sidewalk will be re-opened by 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Motorists who typically use the portion of the artery to and from their destinations might want to find alternative routes until the re-opening. The heavily traveled artery might be even more congested given the lane reduction during construction.
