Retailer Aldi Schedules Job Fair To Fill Positions At Planned Pflugerville Store

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Officials at Aldi—a Germany-based discount grocery store chain—will be staging a job fair next week to fill positions at its planned Pflugerville store, officials said.

The hiring event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 11 at the Best Western Plus on Impact Way. At the event, prospective employees can learn more about the grocer in addition to applying for work.

Aldi officials said they distinguish themselves from their competitors by offering higher wages than the national average for the retail industry, with pay starting at $11.65 per hour. Ahead of a previous job fair in January, officials noted its manager trainee position came with an annual salary of $57,000 based on a 45-hour work week, with opportunities to earn up to $85,000 annually.

To keep its overhead costs down, the company offers no grocery bags while encouraging customers to bag their own groceries. Moreover, customers rent out shopping carts for 25 cents, a reimbursable fee once the cart is returned.

Aldi operates some 1,600 stores nationwide. A timeline for the opening of the Pflugerville location at 1415 FM 685 just east of Pfennig Lane has not been publicly disclosed.
