Sexual Assault Suspect At Large In North Austin

Travis County Sheriff's Office said a woman was assaulted, stabbed and robbed on Saturday, and the suspect is still out there.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX The Travis County Sheriff's Office is seeking a suspect accused of sexually assaulting, stabbing and robbing a woman, urging residents to take caution as the man is still at large.

The incident dates to this past Saturday, June 9, at around 4:30 p.m. when a woman walking through the Churchill Crossing apartment complex, 14100 Thermal Dr., in Wells Branch was approached by the suspect. The man asked the victim for money before pulling her into a secluded area where he is said to have sexually assaulted her, stabbed her and ten stealing her cell phone.

The man fled the scene on foot, sheriff's officials noted. The suspect is described as a black man with light complexion standing five feet, six inches tall. He is about 30 years old with medium build, straight hair and a goatee. At the time of the assault, the man was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and brown jacket. The victim told police the man smelled of alcohol.

The victim is currently hospitalized in good condition, officials said.

A subsequent investigation led sheriff's detectives to a person of interest who was later ruled out as a suspect, officials said. Travis County sheriff's officials are warning the public to be cautious given that the suspect is still at large.
