Small Plane Goes Down In Taylor, Girl Taken To North Austin Hospital For Treatment

The pilot is said to have suffered burn injuries after the aircraft went down, reportedly after running out of fuel.

TAYLOR, TX -- A small airplane crashed Saturday morning west of Taylor, with one of the victims -- a 7-year-old girl -- transported to Dell Children's Medical Center in North Austin for treatment of her injuries.

The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. at the 620 block of County Road 403, according to officials at the Texas Department of Public Safety and Taylor police. CBS Austin reported there were two people aboard the C-23 Beachcraft airplane when it hit the ground and caught fire.

The pilot of the aircraft was identified as Horn Buckle, 41, of Corpus Christi, who suffered severe burns. His seven-year-old daughter also was injured, although reportedly not burned, according to the news station.

Buckle was taken to the burn unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio for treatment, while his daughter was transported to Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, according to the report.

The plane was said to have lifted off Saturday morning from Corpus Christi on its way to Taylor, but crashed just before reaching its destination. DPS officials told CBS Austin that the NTSB is reporting the plane ran out of fuel before it crashed.
