Snacks, Not Snakes, To Be Served At Pflugerville Library Event
Local newspaper flubs notice about upcoming teen event, prompting officials to assure that snakes won't be served as snacks.
PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — Karma can be a pfunny thing.
Residents (and journalists covering this city) have long endured Pflugerville city officials' penchant to start off certain words starting with the letter "f" with "pf" — with the first letter silent as was the founding family's surname for whom this town north of Austin — in announcing upcoming events: Spring Pfling in March; Deutschen Pfest in May; the Pflugerville Pfirecracker Pfest at The Pfield, its twist on the 4th of July; its Pfarmers Market; the Pfurry Splash Party in September; the Pfloating Pumpkin Patch in October; the Pfall Chili Fest the same month.
Enouph already! We get it, you're proud of the city's heritage. But this week, the linguistic gods avenged the tactic when a typo by the Community Impact publication told of an upcoming "Teen Anti Prom" event scheduled April 12 at the Pflugerville Public Library. Snakes (not snacks) would be served at the event, the blurb incorrectly reported.

"The theme of the night is 'Fairy Tales, and there will be a DJ, snakes and a photo booth," Community Impact reported. Needless to sssssay, a subsequent Facebook post was quickly posted by library officials to clarify.
This was clearly a matter of snakes on the brain, as a May event dubbed "Teen De-Stressing Day: Reptile Hangout" is scheduled next month. Still, after shedding their embarrassment, library officials had to acknowledge the typo: "We will have snacks," library officials stressed in a subsequent post. "Snacks is what we will have. Not to say we have anything against snakes," they added, possibly in averting reptilian umbrage in Central Texas where snakes abound.

Snakes at snake events. Snacks at snack events. I feel like we are being reasonable with this request here. https://t.co/msxm1rVNHV

Library officials added residents should never "hessssitate" to call them if there are ever questions about their events, helpfully providing the library's telephone number in a subsequent post. Just to be extra ssssafe, officials updated the Teen Anti Prom flier with a "no snakes" notation.
The library pfolks also changed their Facebook cover photo showing a hastily made sign atop the teen book shelf further noting that no snakes would be at the Teen Anti Prom event:

We pfound this pfaux pas quite hilarious. And you know, Pflugerville, we're not really angrily hissing at your "pf" apffinity. We find it endearing, and realize it's all in good pfun.
