Student Sexually Assaulted At North Austin High School, School Officials Confirm

It's the second time this month that a student from Anderson High School has been sexually assaulted.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- Austin ISD officials confirmed a student was sexually assaulted at a Northwest Austin high school on Thursday.

The Anderson High School student was assaulted on campus, the school's principal said in a statement. An investigation has been launched into the incident the principal said, declining to provide further details. The school is located at 8403 Mesa Dr.

This is the second time this month an Anderson High School student has been assaulted. Earlier this month, a man followed a student off campus and sexually assaulted her in an alley, CBS Austin and other media outlets reported at the time.

Anderson High School Principal Sammi Harrison released a statement confirming the latest incident took place.

"Austin ISD police received notice today that a student had been sexually assaulted on campus," the principal wrote. "Police immediately launched an investigation, which is ongoing."

The principal went on to say that all parties involved have been identified. Despite the incident, the campus is considered safe, Harrison added.

"Everyone involved in the incident has been identified, and AISD police have determined that the campus is safe," the statement continued. "Because the investigation is not completed, no further details are available at this time."

Harrison urged students to always report anything they deem as suspicious on school grounds. The telephone number for the campus police department is (512) 414-1703.
