Investigators said they believe that Sheedy acted alone when he entered the restaurant and met with the 18-year-old victim, an employee at the IHOP employee, in the restroom with the intent to rob him of narcotics. When the victim failed to produce narcotics, Sheedy displayed a pistol and demanded the victim's money, police said, when a physical altercation ensued and multiple shots were fired.

The victim managed to wrest the firearm away from Sheedy before the suspect fled the scene, police said. Police noted the victim was transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries sustained during the incident before being released.
