Suspect In Fatal Shooting At North Austin Illegal Gambling Room Arrested

Police say the shooting was the culmination of a planned robbery gone tragically awry.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX -- The suspect in the killing of an illegal gambling room in in an apparent robbery gone awry earlier this month has been arrested, police said.

David Bruce McKinley, 25, is charged with capital murder for the Aug. 5 botched robbery incident. He's accused of shooting Ga Young Chon, 58, according to an arrest affidavit detailed by the Austin American-Statesman in a report.

The victim was shot in the neck while inside the gambling room in the 900 block of Wagon Trail, the Statesman reported. Two others were wounded but survived. McKinley and two women -- a mother-daughter team -- planned to rob the game room as it was closing for the night, the newspaper reports.

McKinley is now behind bars at the Travis County Jail. No jail has been set, according to jail records.
