NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — A police SWAT team was dispatched to a North Austin home on Sunday afternoon after officers responded to a call to check on the welfare of a resident there.
Police provided no details about the incident along the 1500 block of Choquette Drive other than to say that a perimeter had been secured. Typically, when SWAT is called to a residence it's due to a person barricading himself inside a dwelling while ignoring commands to exit the building.
In a tweet posted around 1 p.m., police urged people to avoid the area as they seek to resolve the standoff peacefully.
