AT&T Hotel And Conference Center At UT-Austin To Expand By 30K Feet

Zlotnik Family Ballroom, nine additional meeting rooms and huge mural by Brooklyn artist José Parlá are among the enhancements.

AUSTIN, TX — Officials at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center on Thursday announced they will debut 30,000 square feet of new meeting and event space with their expansion opening scheduled on January 2018.

The expansion will include the 15,000-square-foot Zlotnik Family Ballroom, a multi-use space for business meetings, conferences, weddings, graduations and social gatherings, officials said. The expanded space enlarges the AT&T Hotel & Conference Center to 80,000 square feet of flexible space and 53 meeting rooms to accommodate groups from six to 1,600 people, officials noted.

In addition to the Zlotnik Family Ballroom, the expansion will include nine additional meeting rooms, directly connected to the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center by a spacious, enclosed walkway, officials described. "The new space seamlessly transitions from the current space into the new ballroom’s 5,000-square-foot pre-event space with natural light cascading through the built-in skylights," officials said.
The expansion is part of Rowling Hall, which will also house The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business graduate programs, officials said.

The pre-function space of the Zlotnik Family Ballroom will feature a large mural from José Parlá, a Brooklyn-based artist known for his paintings, sculpture, photography and architectural collaborations, officials said. The mural will be the artist's most ambitious project to date, occupying 4,000 square feet. The artwork will highlight Austin’s natural environment and cityscape, and will feature Parlá’s characteristic traces of collage, pulled impasto surfaces and signature calligraphic marks, officials said.

The new meeting and event spaces, designed by New York-based architecture firm Ennead Architects, are designed to accommodate various types of events and room arrangements and will feature an abundance of natural light, officials said. "With a wide array of room sizes and layout options, the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center can host everything from intimate boardroom meetings to wedding receptions and large scale corporate events," officials added.

The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center is owned by The University of Texas and is located at the south entrance of campus, nestled between the UT Tower and Texas State Capitol. Located in downtown Austin, the 297-key property offers three on-site dining options, including The Carillon, an award-winning restaurant, and is central to the city’s top museums, restaurants, retail, events, festivals and nightlife.
