Teen Killed In North Austin Car Collision
Police said a 15-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle last Saturday night along 600 block of East Yager Lane.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday released details in connection to the death of a teenager killed as he walked in the middle of a North Austin street over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Sept. 28, at around 10:11 p.m. along the 600 block of East Yager Lane. According to a preliminary police investigation, a 2014, maroon Mazda 5 was traveling westbound as a pedestrian was traveling in the same direction in the middle of the street.
The 15-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after the car struck him, police said. The driver remained on the scene awaiting arrival of police, officials said, and no charges are expected to be filed.

The incident marked the 62nd fatal traffic crash of 2019 in Austin, resulting in 64 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, police added, there were 52 fatal traffic crashes and 53 traffic fatalities.
