Update: Police Identify Teen Killed in Single-Car Crash

The crash happened in Northeast Austin Tuesday morning.

Police are trying to determine what caused a single-car crash that killed a teen in Northeast Austin.

Police identified the teen as 17-year-old Lance Jordan Thomas in a news release.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on the westbound frontage road of U.S. 290 near Harris Branch Parkway. Thomas was found dead on the scene, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS. The other passengers, a male teen and two females in their 20s, were transported to UMC Breckenridge and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The road was reopened at about 4:15 a.m. Police have not determined if alcohol or speed were factors in the collision.
