Teen Shot Near North Austin Mall
Shooting victim was inside a vehicle near intersection of FM 620 and the northbound 183 service road when man walked up and fired.
AUSTIN, TX — A teenage girl is recovering after being shot near a northwest Austin mall on Saturday night, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. near the intersection of FM 620 and the northbound 183 service road, not far from the Lakeline Mall. Police said the teen was inside a vehicle in a parking lot when a male suspect walked up and fired multiple shots into the vehicle before fleeing in another vehicle.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics said via Twitter the young woman was rushed to St. David's Round Rock Hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

In the aftermath of the shooting, police said the public was not in danger. Police use that verbiage to convey when parties involved in violence are known to one another, rather than it being a random incident of violence.
As of noon Sunday, there's no word if a suspect has been identified and/or arrested. It's also unclear what may have led up to the violence. Patch will update when more details are known.
