Texas Typhoon Austin Water Park To Hire Lifeguards, 600 Workers
Ahead of its early May opening, 25-acre water park in Pflugerville aims to hire hundreds of seasonal workers for its third season.

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — It's around 35 degrees in the Austin area today, and Patch just poked its head out to see what appeared to be sleet falling on the grass outside. So it might be hard to envision lounging poolside in the near future, but here goes.
Typhoon Texas Austin Water Park plans to hire lifeguards and 600 seasonal workers for summer, officials said Friday. The hiring spurt comes ahead of the park's early opening in May for its third season.
Seasonal positions are available in water safety, sound technology and media, guest relations, cash control, food and beverage, maintenance, front gate, in-park entertainment, loss prevention and park services. Job descriptions and applications are available at typhoontexas.com.

“Typhoon Texas is where people can come work for the summer and learn a skill set, grow as an individual and meet new people. We want our team members to look back at their employment at Typhoon Texas as the place where they learned important job skills that helped them later in life,” Typhoon Texas Austin General Manager Ty Weitzel said. “Working at Typhoon Texas is a great summer job you can brag about.”
Jeff Ellis and Associates, the world leader in aquatic safety, provides lifeguard training and certification for Typhoon Texas, officials noted in a press advisory. Water safety employees who work at the water park through the entire season will be reimbursed the cost of the required water safety certification course.

In related news, Typhoon Texas Austin will also give two college scholarships this year. Recipients will be awarded to selected team members at the end of the summer, water park officials said.
In addition to offering more available work hours than most seasonal jobs, Typhoon Texas provides many additional benefits to employees. Team members can receive up to $6,500 in perks, including a season pass to the water park, friends and family discounts, guest passes, food and beverage discounts, flexible work schedules, team member parties, an employee recognition program and more.
“Team members can be nominated for leadership and career training sessions, which provide tools to achieve long-term success as young professionals, regardless of their interest in a long-term career in the aquatics industry,” Weitzel added.
Job applications must be submitted online and will be reviewed by the management team. Prospects will be contacted for interviews March 2, 16, 30 or April 13 at Typhoon Texas Austin, 18500 TX-130 North Service Road in Pflugerville.
Typhoon Texas Austin opens for the 2019 season on weekends beginning May 4 and daily beginning Memorial Day weekend. Three new levels of 2019 season passes and single-day passes are on sale now at typhoontexas.com.
