Two Die In Separate North Austin Traffic Collisions

First wreck along 11300 block of I-35 North near Braker Lane involved pedestrian, second incident at U.S. 290 led to motorcyclist's death.

AUSTIN, TX — Two people died in separate traffic fatalities in North Austin early Wednesday, medics said.

The first incident occurred along the 11300 block of Interstate 35 North near Braker Lane just before 1:40 a.m., Austin-Travis County EMS medics said via Twitter. A pedestrian described as a man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a car, medics said.

Traffic was delayed in the aftermath of the crash as drivers were diverted around the scene, medics noted.

About three hours later, another man in his 40s was killed along the westbound lanes of U.S. 290 East near Tuscany Way just before 4:40 a.m. Police told media outlets the man was on a motorcycle before striking a barricade, throwing him from the bike onto lanes below the highway. It's unclear what may have caused the motorcyclist to run into the barricade.

Medics initially categorized the incident as an unconfirmed report of a pedestrian being struck before police specified a motorcyclist had been involved.
