- Texas Longhorns sixth year guard Andrew Jones, a leukemia survivor, "has partnered with the V Foundation to raise money for cancer research" by donating "10% of his Name, Image, Likeness earnings to the prominent cancer research foundation, founded by former North Carolina State head coach Jim Valvano" in 1993. "Jones was diagnosed with leukemia in January 2018" and immediately underwent treatment at Houston's University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. As he was recovering, he played 2 redshirt seasons and returned full-time to the Longhorns team in November 2019. "Four years later, Jones is using his platform to help others fight against cancer, embodying Valvano's spirit of never giving up." For more details, visit: (KXAN.com)
- On Saturday, Jan. 29, a CLEAR Alert for missing 38-year-old Carmen Trujillo Perez was discontinued and although the Travis County Sheriff's Office is still investigating, detectives determined that it should expire that night. "A CLEAR Alert is a Coordinated Law Enforcement Adult Rescue created in 2019" that "helps law enforcement find missing, kidnapped or abducted adults or those who are in immediate danger of injury or death." The last time the woman was seen was on Tuesday, Jan. 25 around 5 a.m. in the 21400 block of Derby Day Avenue in Pflugerville. According to police, she was in a blue 2014 Chevrolet Sonic with Texas license plate number FZH-0400. Authorities are also still looking for Luis Montes in connection with her disappearance. He is a 35-year-old male with black hair and brown eyes and is believed to weigh 220 lbs. and measure 6 feet, 1-inch tall. (KXAN.com)
