UT-Austin Livestream: Microsoft CEO, theSkimm Founders Talk Tech

Satya Nadella to discuss the many ways technology has transformed society with Danielle Weisberg and Carla Zakin.

AUSTIN, TX — Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will drop by the University of Texas at Austin on Monday, Nov. 13, to discuss the way technology is transforming society.

Nadella will be part of a panel that includes Danielle Weisberg and Carla Zakin, co-founders of theSkimm, a media company founded in 2012 known for its daily email newsletter focusing on popular news to its subscribers.

The hour-long talk is scheduled to begin at noon from the Hogg Memorial Auditorium at 2300 Whitis Ave.

The bad news for techies is that the even is open to UT students, faculty and staff members only, and on a first-come, first served basis. Members of the media get reserved seating, but Nadella won't be available for post-discussion interviews given time constraints, officials said.

The good news is that a livestream of the discussion will be available via Faceboon on theSkimm's website.

Nadella, who became CEO of Microsoft in 2014, is currently promoting his new book “Hit Refresh – The Quest to Rediscover Microsoft’s Soul and Imagine a Better Future for Everyone,” in which he explores how new technologies will impact society and shares what he has learned after more than 20 years at Microsoft.

Zakin and Weisberg founded theSkimm in 2012. The media company focuses on short, simple and easy-to-read versions of the news and is known for a daily email newsletter which has more than 6 million subscribers.
