- For many girls, "father-daughter dances are rites of passage," but for 11-year-old Audrey Soape of Pflugerville, "this year's dance was set to be a much more somber occasion." In March 2021, her father died in an accident and 5 weeks later, her grandfather passed away. Despite the sad events, the young girl still wanted to go to the local church dance at The Fellowship Church in Round Rock, so her mother, Holly Soape, decided to help her look for date options. One person in mind was Anthony Harris, safety for the Philadelphia Eagles, whom she sent an Instagram message to right before Christmas. Surprisingly she heard back from him in mid-January, and not only did he buy her daughter new shoes and a dress and "arranged for her hair and makeup appointments, but he also arrived to pick her up for the dance on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022. The young girl said, "I couldn't believe that this was happening." She added, "I was nervous and excited to meet him." Her mother posted on Facebook, "I'm still at a complete loss of words, and I don't think I'll ever really grasp how incredible this night was. Audrey was blessed beyond measure to get escorted to the daddy-daughter dance by her favorite football player, Eagles safety (and former Viking), Anthony Harris.
